Our Story

For over 20 years, we dreamed of having a farm or ranch—a place where we could raise animals, grow food, and live closer to the land. But between the high cost of acreage and the need to stay close to town for work and our kids’ school, it always felt like just that: a dream.

We spent five years in a new suburban home just a block away from the kids’ school, doing our best to settle in. But by 2019, we realized that suburban life wasn’t where we saw our future. We started taking our dream more seriously—attending ranching seminars, Q&A sessions, and visiting the National Western Stock Show to learn everything we could about agriculture and, especially, bison.

Then came 2020, and like so many others, our world shifted. With remote work now an option, we were no longer tied to offices or city living. The desire to get out of the city became too strong to ignore. We sold our home and bought land two hours away—a ranch that had once run cattle and came with a corral system, barn, and other infrastructure. It had great bones but hadn’t been lived on in over a year, and it had been even longer since it was a functioning ranch.

We knew we had our work cut out for us—especially if we were going to raise animals as powerful and majestic as bison. But we were ready. With vision, grit, and a deep respect for the land, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

From the start, we’ve been committed to working with nature, not against it. Our goal has always been to create a ranching operation that honors the land, supports healthy ecosystems, and produces high-quality, nutrient-dense food. We follow regenerative agriculture practices that help restore soil health, encourage biodiversity, and ensure the long-term vitality of the land we call home.

Today, Wild K Ranch is more than a ranch—it’s a reflection of everything we’ve worked for: a place rooted in purpose, sustainability, and the wild beauty of the bison.
